ASI Partners with Public Health Associations for Health Equity Conference

The Atlantic Summer Institute on Healthy and Safe Communities (ASI) is excited to announce our partnership with the Public Health Association of NB-PEI and the Public Health Association of NS to deliver a two-day conference in Moncton from April 30 to May 1, 2014. Health for All: Putting Equity into Practice will focus on leadership, advocacy and collective action in the Maritimes.

The conference will provide participants with the knowledge, tools and practical skills required to apply a health equity approach in their workplaces and communities. Day One activities include a morning plenary, an exhibitor showcase, and two learning sessions: Health Equity Leadership and Health Impact Assessment. The conference will create an environment for participants to meet and exchange information, ideas, resources and support related to their field.

On Day Two of the conference, ASI is offering its Foundations for Learning Together workshop. The Foundations workshop is an introduction to the theories, concepts and practices of working together across sectors for safe and healthy communities. The workshop aims to inspire a mind-shift to holistic thinking: from the individual to the collective, from the discrete to the connected, from the separation of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual to wholeness. The Circle of Health© and Aboriginal Medicine Wheel are used to guide discussion and discovery. Participants who complete the workshop will receive a Certificate of Participation from the ASI, which will enable them to enter the Specialization Pathway at ASI 2014 in August.

Health for All: Putting Equity into Practice runs from 8-4pm on April 30-May 1 at the Crowne Plaza Moncton. Registration for this workshop is limited and an early bird registration price is available until March 31.
