Deadline Extended! We’re Hiring a Youth Leadership Coordinator for ASI 2026

Good news if you missed the first deadline — you’ve got a second chance to apply for one of the most meaningful summer jobs in Atlantic Canada.

The Atlantic Summer Institute on Healthy and Safe Communities (ASI) has extended the application deadline for our Youth Leadership Coordinator position. If you’re a young changemaker with a passion for leadership, events, and community well-being, we want to hear from you — by Friday, May 22, 2026.

What is ASI?

ASI is a PEI-based nonprofit that’s been bringing together innovators, policymakers, and community leaders since 2004. Every year, ASI hosts a flagship summer forum focused on social change, public health, and building healthier, more inclusive Atlantic Canadian communities.

This year’s 2026 Annual Policy Forum — Creating a Culture of Well-Being for Present and Future Generations — takes place August 18–20 in Charlottetown, PEI, with programming in both English and French.

About the Role

The Youth Leadership Coordinator will design and deliver a dynamic program for 20+ youth leaders aged 18–25 from across Atlantic Canada. It’s a hands-on role that spans the full arc of event management: planning, recruitment, communications, logistics, and post-event reporting.

The youth-focused program kicks off the evening of August 17 with a dedicated youth event, before participants integrate into the full intergenerational forum on August 18–20. Throughout the forum, the Coordinator continues to support and mentor youth leaders as they engage with practitioners and decision-makers from across the region.

This is not a behind-the-scenes administrative job — it’s a leadership role in its own right.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Collaborating with a planning committee to develop the Youth Leadership for a Well-Being Society Program
  • Recruiting youth leaders and managing the application process
  • Coordinating logistics for in-person and virtual programming
  • Creating communications and social media content in support of ASI’s broader marketing
  • Seeking sponsorships and managing budget reporting
  • Writing a final summary report with recommendations

Who We’re Looking For

You’re organized, enthusiastic, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. You’ve got experience in youth leadership or event coordination, and you’re ready to take on real responsibility. Bilingualism in English and French is a strong asset for this role.

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs, so applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age, and legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and protected persons).

The Details

  • Pay: $18/hour, 35 hours/week
  • Term: June 1 – August 29, 2026
  • Location: Based out of The Quaich Inc. offices in Charlottetown, with flexibility to work from home

Why This Job Matters

Youth voice is central to everything ASI does. This role puts you at the intersection of public health, policy, and community leadership — with real mentorship, real responsibility, and a network that will follow you long after the summer ends.
