ASI Early Bird Registration Extended!

The Atlantic Summer Institute on Healthy and Safe Communities has extended its early bird deadline to encourage even more participants to save $50 on event registration. The new deadline is June 16. To register, visit: www.asi-iea.ca/en/asi-2014/

The Atlantic Summer Institute is a four-day conference and learning Institute, taking place August 19-22 in Charlottetown, PEI. The ASI aims to strengthen communities by encouraging meaningful dialogue and collaboration across sectors, while also focusing on intergenerational leadership and mentorship. This year’s theme, “Renewing Democracy through Social Justice: Adding New Voices” will resonate with emerging and established leaders as well as those committed to social justice in Atlantic communities.  With a program designed to encourage dialogue about the evolution of democracy and social justice in Canada, ASI 2014 will serve as a forum for the voices of those historically under-represented in democratic institutions in Canada, including women, Aboriginal peoples, Francophones, immigrants, LGBTQ communities, and young people.

ASI 2014 features two specialized curriculum workshops: “Gender, Diversity and Community Leadership” and “Building and Using Evidence for Social Justice”. In addition to the workshops, ASI 2014 will feature a prominent keynote speaker, a storytelling circle on advocacy for social justice, a social circus and much more!

ASI appeals to those working across sectors, including education, community development, and all levels of government, in addition to students and young people committed to community leadership and social justice. Participants learn valuable skills and share knowledge, and are able to return to their communities, workplaces and organizations with new tools and ideas to address issues and initiate change.

A limited number of subsidies are available for participants to help cover costs of attending the ASI. Apply for a subsidy online by June 10.
